Being Positive When Feeling Blue

I thought I'd do a post today on feeling positive.

I've been living in the Czech Republic for 2 months now and that is crazy! It's so strange being so far away from everyone I love and not being able to just hop on a train home or have my family come and pick me up. And not being able to sleep in my own bed or shop in stores I know and be eating real food is such a reality change. And in such a different environment it becomes so easy to feel lost and alone and it's easy to lose that positive outlook on life.

I'm so fortunate as to have such incredible people supporting me whilst I am out here and I couldn't be more thankful.

So today I thought I'd share with you some of the things that I find useful in making me feel positive and happy when I'm feeling blue.

Number 1: Invest time in people.

Here I'm living in a shared room with 5 other girls and we have one little bathroom between us, it's definitely a reality check and although I can become very irritated easily by situations such as being woken up by noise and not being able to use the bathroom as and when I want, I'm also very lucky. I'm living in another country where I am sharing a room with 3 Spanish girls, a Macedonian girl and one of my lovely friends from home. And they're all lovely, wonderful people, It's pretty much a given that at times life will be stressful, but looking at the positives I've met new people who I love and call my friends and thats a blessing.

Number 2: Keep in contact with the people you love.

To say the least, I am homesick. I miss all of my family and friends and all the people I love so much. And I've noticed I'm a very much a moaner, I don't know how my family and boyfriend have put up with me this long but I'm so thankful they have. I am so unbelievably blessed to have people in my life like them who love and support me and cheer me up on my down days and are so patient with me and I couldn't be more thankful. I think It's so important to stop and look at your life and just be thankful for all the amazing people you have in your life. I know I wouldn't be where I am today without them and they make my days here go by quickly and I just can't wait to see them again.

A month ago my boyfriend flew 1000 miles to come and see me bringing with him my favourite tea bags and an extension lead, I can't even put into words how blessed I feel to have such incredible people in my life because I most certainly don't deserve them. This weekend my Mum and her bestfriend are flying out to come and see me and I just am so blessed and I feel so full of love.

Number 3: Do things you enjoy.

During my time here I've had many days where I've felt bored and lonely and sad and that is probably due to my lack of internet here and the fact I don't have many belongings here so I've decided to take up things that make me happy as I've come to notice when you're happier time flies by. So I'm making the effort to go out and take as many photographs as I can, I'm investing time into this blog and into my photography website, I'm having fun learning the Czech language, I'm currently reading The Light Between Oceans which is great and I'm spending time with great people.

Number 4: Work on that positive mindset.

An observation I have made of myself is that when another person is upset, or there is something wrong I will literally do all I can possibly think of to help and be positive and look for a solution etc.. but when it comes to my own life I very often just sit back and go nope I can't do this. And that is ridiculous and something I need to work on!

And Number 5: Look after yourself.

I have also noticed that when I feel down and blue it usually means I'm not eating healthy, doing enough exercise or getting enough fresh air, so I've made it my aim to be healthier, I make sure now that when I do my weekly shop that I have lots of fruit and veg (and by lots I mean lots for a student who has a tiny fridge) annnnnd I feel so much better for doing it. I've also made it my aim to go on more walks round the place and to just enjoy this pretty city whilst I'm here.

I hope these tips can help you to live a more positive life.
