What Does Easter Mean To Me?

I have grown up in a Christian family, being taken to Church each Sunday and attending Sunday School and learning about Jesus. And this is something I've always loved and I'm so grateful to have been brought up in a christian home where I've had access to learning about Jesus because I know there are still so many people out there who will have never heard the name Jesus and will maybe never have that chance to learn about who he is.

I would say I became a christian at the age of 6ish (I can't actually remember) but I learn more and more each day about what it actually means to be a christian. On the 31st October (Halloween) 2010 I was baptised so I would have been 14 years old, and I chose to take the next big step in my faith and be baptised and this is something I am so happy to have done although quite often in life I think 'ahhh I wish I got baptised now' but that's not because I regret the timing I did get baptised, I think it's just because I want to do that again, I like to think of it as if I were married and I were looking at my husband and going 'ahhh I want to marry you again' so I think of it as a good thing.

Obviously being a christian has its ups and its downs, and there are many challenges I face daily and admittedly more often than not I make the wrong decision but I guess thats all part of life and learning lessons makes us who we are. I am in no means the 'perfect' christian but I'm trying and along the way I have made and will continue to make many mistakes I'm sure but I'm thankful all the while.

Seeing as it is Easter now I thought now would be the perfect time to talk about my faith and what being a christian means to me.

If I were to sum up shortly my belief I would say:

I believe in the LORD my God who has given me life and has sent his son Jesus to die on a cross for me so I can live the life he has given me to the full, forgiven of all my reckless sins and at the same time I get to know and love him more.

And being a christian means loving like Jesus, having patience and being kind hearted. It means supporting people all you can through prayer and love. It means following Gods word. It means making mistakes here and there aren't the be all and end all (obviously don't go out in search of mistakes to make but let the mistakes you make develop you into a better person). It means talking to God and remaining strong even when his reply is something different to what you had hoped. It means being a light to other people. It means being saved.

I have been saved because Jesus Christ was born in a manger and died on a cross. Like a man, a perfect man who lived a sinless life died for me. He actually DIED so that I could live freely. It blows my mind.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son so that whoever believes in him shall not die but have eternal life." JOHN 3:16

That is AMAZING GRACE, I do not deserve to be loved like that. I don't deserve to just walk free like that. My God is amazing and I find it astonishing how incredible he is.

So yes, Easter to me is a celebration, it's a time to be thankful, it's a time to spread love and to be a light.

Hillsong Church - a church I occasionally attend when in London have their slogan as cross = love which I think is so beautiful and a simple image of the incredible love that God has for us. This stamp can be found in the Hillsong app where you can overlay it to any of your photos.

Obviously Easter is still a nice time to enjoy some chocolate but I hope you'll never forget the real meaning of Easter because behind all the bunnies and the chocolate eggs theres a man who died on a cross so that we can live.

HAVE A BLESSED EASTER

with all my love

x
